Environmental Inspector with Petroleum Storage Tank Experience – In Office (Houston, TX)

Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Environmental Inspector to join our team, specializing in overseeing construction projects with a focus on petroleum storage tank installations and maintenance. This role is critical for ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and maintaining the highest standards of quality and safety throughout the project’s lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

  • Quality Control and Assurance: Conduct thorough inspections and oversee quality control throughout construction projects, ensuring all work meets or exceeds federal and industry standards. Apply rigorous QC measures such as installation checks according to industry codes, calibration, leak detection per manufacturer specifications, and implementation of spill protection and overfill prevention measures for petroleum storage tanks.

  • Environmental Compliance Monitoring: Manage and execute comprehensive environmental compliance strategies for petroleum storage tanks, including oversight of underground and above-ground storage tank installations. Ensure compliance with environmental regulations related to stormwater management, waste management, and mitigation of potential environmental impacts during construction.

  • Specialized Inspection Duties: Carry out specialized inspections in sensitive environments, such as nuclear facilities and major infrastructures like airports and highways. Oversee on-site laboratories and material testing, including soil, concrete, and asphalt testing, to maintain high construction and environmental safety standards.

  • Project Oversight: Manage large-scale and high-budget public infrastructure projects, ensuring all aspects of environmental safety and regulatory compliance are addressed. This includes supervising the execution of F-number measurements, batch plant inspections, and concrete placement testing.

  • Regulatory and Standards Compliance: Stay updated with the latest regulations and standards, applying meticulous attention to Federal Highway Administration specifications and federal testing criteria.

  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain detailed records of all inspections, tests, and corrective actions. Provide comprehensive reports that document.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Education and Certifications: Certifications such as  NICET, is preferred.

     

  • Experience: At least 5 years of experience in construction project oversight, with a significant portion of that experience in quality control and environmental compliance. Specific experience with petroleum storage tanks and familiarity with federal specifications is essential.

     

  • Skills: Demonstrated expertise in quality assurance, environmental compliance, and project management. Strong technical proficiency, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to adapt to varying project demands are crucial.
